Ornare and Milan – A Story of Excellence
Between Milanese tradition and contemporary innovation, the brand transforms the city into a stage of experiences, discoveries, and inspirations.
Milan, a city whose influence on design spans centuries, has become a global reference in architecture, fashion, and design. Founded in 1961, the Salone del Mobile elevated the city to the world stage of design, annually attracting professionals in search of trends and innovation. During Milan Design Week, the metropolis transforms into a vibrant hub of experiences and exhibitions, reaffirming its central role on the international scene.
Inspired by this very essence, Esther and Murillo Schattan created a brand that translates this spirit of excellence. Fascinated by the world of high-end furniture, they envisioned a company whose name would evoke Italian tradition: Ornare, derived from the verb “ornare,” meaning “to decorate.”
Ornare at the Salone del Mobile
Since its early years, the brand has cultivated proximity with Milan, participating regularly in the fair, inspiring new trends, and presenting its creations to the international public. It became a tradition to launch new collections during the event.
In 2019, Ornare presented the West East Collection, revealing a unique synthesis of technical, aesthetic, and artisanal solutions designed to adapt to different contexts and lifestyles. Each element was conceived to offer multiple configurations, combining versatility with refinement, and available in a wide palette of materials, colors, and finishes. Among the featured lines were Ikigai Closet, Ikigai Bookshelves, Wall System, Little Luxury, Vanity Island, Shaker Wall Bar, and Shaker Bank.
In 2022, at the 60th edition, within the prestigious pavilion dedicated to kitchens and high-end furnishings at EuroCucina, Ornare unveiled the Square Round Collection. The launch reflected the integration of aesthetics, comfort, and technology, aligned with the year’s theme: the ecological transition in design.
The collection, composed of the Round, Wire, Move, Square Wall, and 270° lines, united square and circular forms in a concept that resonates with the golden ratio and the logarithmic spiral found in nature, creating timeless and sophisticated pieces. The exhibition also featured the renowned Shaker line, awarded at ICFF 2021 in New York.
In 2023, the brand introduced the Timeless Collection, which synthesizes aesthetic durability and functional elegance. Using certified solid wood and ventilated doors that play with light and shadow, the collection became a benchmark in sophistication and conscious design, with the following lines: Timeless Kitchen, Timeless Closet, Timeless Island, Timeless Bookshelves, Timeless Bar, Timeless Beauty, Timeless Edge Desk, Timeless Rack, and Bubble Puff.

Ornare Milano Flagship: European Expansion
In 2024, the brand inaugurated its first flagship store in Milan, at the historic Palazzo Gallarati on Via Manzoni, 30. Spanning 450m² in an 18th-century building, the space contrasts classical architecture with contemporary collections, consolidating Ornare’s presence in the Quadrilatero della Moda, the heart of luxury brands. The opening coincided with Milan Design Week and the launch of the Art All Around project, which integrates art and design in a dynamic gallery, bringing together international artists and prestigious galleries.

Milan Design Week 2025
In 2025, during Design Week, Ornare celebrated the first anniversary of its showroom with the immersive installation Nimbo, by the Milanese studio Parasite 2.0, exploring light and atmosphere and inviting poetic contemplation of space. The second edition of the Art All Around project presented works by Italian and Brazilian artists side by side, reaffirming the integration between art and design. The anniversary was marked with an exclusive dinner at Hotel Portrait Milano, gathering architects, influencers, and specialized media, consolidating Milan Design Week as a platform for unique experiences.
Ornare actively takes its partners to Milan, enabling them to experience the fair’s novelties firsthand, participate in exclusive events, and immerse themselves in global design trends. This closeness brings inspiration that extends into future projects worldwide. Celebrations following each edition—dinners, events, and cocktail receptions—reinforce this connection, turning each launch into a memorable occasion.
