Trend: Dopamine Decor

Ornare’s expertise in bespoke interiors reveals the most sophisticated side of Dopamine Decor, with creations that awaken visual pleasure and foster authentic emotional connections.

Dopamine Decor is a contemporary approach that blends color psychology, emotional memory, and maximalist design to create environments that stimulate the release of dopamine — the neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, motivation, and well-being. Inspired by the concept of dopamine dressing, which originated in the fashion world, this movement embraces individual expression through vibrant color combinations, bold patterns, engaging textures, and elements rich in personal meaning.

By exploring emotional and sensory connections, Dopamine Decor transcends traditional aesthetic norms, proposing an experimental and subjective visual language that celebrates authenticity and creative freedom. In this context, Ornare makes a distinctive contribution by offering highly customizable solutions. Its iconic collections allow each project to reflect the individual preferences of its clients through finishes, colors, and materials that evoke powerful sensations and reinforce emotional bonds with the space. The following examples illustrate this concept:

In the space designed by architect Mylena Bonfim, the strategic use of a vibrant orange on leather-clad panels acts as a chromatic focal point, warming the gaze and intensifying the room’s energy. Studies in color psychology indicate that shades like red, yellow, and orange can trigger dopamine release and elicit positive emotional responses. To balance this striking presence, the designer chose high-gloss black surfaces for the cabinetry, creating a sophisticated and neutral foundation. The contrast between the warmth of the orange and the sobriety of the black gives the space visual harmony and depth.

In the project by Passarelli Arquitetos, the intensity and saturation of colors take center stage. A striking U-shaped volume clad in deep lilac cabinetry acts as a chromatic reflection: its metallic frame captures and diffuses light, amplifying the color’s vibrancy. In the background, a pink wall adds a bold backdrop, heightening the visual impact. To prevent sensory overload, neutral surfaces like the light marble flooring and natural stone countertop offer visual pauses, ensuring aesthetic comfort and compositional balance.

The sensory experience proposed by Dopamine Decor goes beyond visual stimulation—tactile appeal is also essential. In architect Doriselma Mariotto’s project, textures and forms are skillfully orchestrated. The upholstered headboard, composed of geometric blocks reminiscent of a playful universe, creates a compelling dialogue with furniture pieces featuring cool-toned surfaces in shades of gray. Carefully applied abstract patterns enrich the room’s narrative, making it not only visually captivating but also deeply immersive.
